Jess learning to ride at age 7

Jessica started Eureka Equestrian so she could share her love and passion for horses and riding. Her love for horses started at age 7, in Victoria, Australia, when her parents enrolled her in riding school. Her parents eventually realized she was hooked, and got her a pony of her own when she was 12. She participated in pony club, and started working at the local show jumping stables, where she was fortunate to be able to learn to school world cup show jumping horses, grooming skills, horse care and stable management and jumping.

After completing high school, she started a working student position with a four star event rider, grooming and participating in events across Australia. This is when she discovered her love for teaching, after being given some junior students of her own. She also completed an early childhood education qualification. At 19, an opportunity to be head groom at the Roycroft stables outside of Sydney became available. Vicky Roycroft is a three times Olympic and World championship team member, and is considered the best show jumping competitor in Australia. Vicky is know worldwide for her extremely high standard of horsemanship, riding skills, consistency of performance, dedication to the sport and work ethic. Jessica learned a lot from her time with Vicky, and takes pleasure in passing this knowledge on by sharing those skills, standards and “secrets to success” with her students.

Jessica then moved to Europe and worked for world class show jumpers in the Netherlands and Italy, including European junior champions and Olympic gold medal horses and riders. She then found herself in Alberta, which she fell in love with, and has made her home for the past 10 years. She started Eureka Equestrian after several assistant trainer positions with local riders. She saw a need for a riding program that teaches not only riding, but whole horsemanship. She believes in the philosophy that riding skills mean nothing, without teaching the complete care and appreciation of the horse. With 24 years of riding experience and a first class education in the horse industry, Jessica has a proven track record of horse training, and teaching excellence.
